End of the Summer....

I can't believe it's already Labor Day weekend.  This summer flew by.  We sort of expected it too since we had so much fun planned with Rob coming home from deployment.  It was such a great summer though.  Although I'm not looking forward to Winter (hopefully this is our last Winter that we have to live in a cold place) we are really ready for Fall to come around.  Rob and I are running a half marathon in less than 2 weeks and a Marathon in 7 weeks, and training in this heat and humidity as we try to up our mileage is getting very old!

 We finally got some rain and had a beautiful rainbow in the backyard!

 Rob has been trying to perfect his wing making abilities lately, he fried some wings in the turkey fryer and also grilled some spicy BBQ wings on the grill.  We ate an absurd amount of wings that night, the kids loved them!

 Jake has been doing so well sleeping in his big boy bed.  He used to sit on our laps either in his rocking chair or on the floor when we read books before bedtime....but now he's taken to sitting on us while we lie down to read.  He doesn't seem to grasp that he can just lie on his pillow...

 We went to the National Zoo and the kids had a great time running around and seeing all the animals.  The last time we went here I was about 9 months pregnant with Jake and it was about 100 degrees and humid and I was so miserable.  This time around was a lot more fun!

 Ava was so excited to see the pig.  We went to Oxon Hill Farm a couple weekends ago and she was really excited to see the pigs...but there were none there.  So of all the exotic animals the National Zoo has to offer....Ava was pretty pumped about the smelly pigs.
