Jake's 2nd Birthday

This weekend our Jakey boy turned 2!  We had lots of fun celebrating with him.  We had his 2 year well baby visit this past week too, here are his stats!

Weight: 34.5lbs (95th percentile)
Height: 36 inches (90th percentile)

As we already know, he is a big boy!!

Ava made this for Jake, she collected rocks on the playground at school and made a "J" with them and put it in picture frame!
I think Jake is thinking "hey this will be great to whack the coffee table with"
Aunt Beth and Uncle Zach's toys were definitely a favorite, balls and a mallet to whack them down with....what more could a honey badger want?

Jake also got a basketball hoop.  He LOVES basketball.  If he sees a basketball in the store, or sees kids playing in the neighborhood he freaks out.  He couldn't even wait for Rob to set it up, he was throwing the ball in the hoop as Rob was stringing up the net.
At it's lowest setting he's still having a hard time getting it in, but he's determined and loves trying.

This was post-tantrum when he threw himself on the floor with his ball because I dared to touch it to try to help him out.
On the run, carrying the ball, he needs to learn how to dribble!

Last night I took a look back at Ava's 2nd birthday (the link is below).

When she turned 2 we were getting ready to pack up and move back to the mainland from Hawaii.  I could take her anywhere and she would just ride quietly in her stroller or walk next to me.  She was so shy, but very sweet and just loved to play with her toys (and her friends and family that she knew well).  I couldn't have asked for a better beach buddy in Hawaii for the first 2 years of her life.

Jake on the other hand is all over the place, refuses to sit in a stroller, go anywhere without running full speed, and if you have a ball, watch out because he will be taking that from you.  He is still a Mommy's boy and wants me to hold him especially when he's tired.  When we walk into Ava's preschool he likes me to carry him because the sun beats in his eyes when we walk the 2-3 min walk into the building.  But if there's other kids around, forget it, he pushes away like I'm some kind of crazy lady trying to hold him and runs off with the other kids.  He's out of control and leaves a path of damage in most places he visits, but we can't even get mad at him.  He is the just the greatest, most lovable little boy we could have imagined.  So Happy Birthday to our Jakey Boy (aka, the Honey Badger).
